Name: Hector Charles Valentine Rysart

So I am guessing Miss Kendrick must have been near here somewhere to get preggers by him about then...Or him near her..!

Oh, it is her! I just realised Annina said she died in Bristol.

There are several more articles (I'll send them to Annina) with more detail.

Hilda Margaret Kendrick was also known as Mrs Hilda Coppell, apparently a name she assumed to protect her child.

At the time of the attack she was unemployed and lived at 37 Bushey Park, Knowle. She'd been in Bristol for 6 years.

On the night of the attack she'd gone to a restaurant around midnight (which she did most nights) and when she was walking home around 1:30 a car stopped. She'd thought it was a man she knew so got in the car, but then realised it was a stranger. (There was debate in court as to the true circumstances but I won't go into them).

When questioned in court as to who the man that she thought it was she wouldn't say but wrote the name on a bit of paper. That name wasn't mentioned but was a well known local businessman.

ADDED:
By the look of the reports she conducted her own prosecution of the assailant.

Hello Annina, do you know if they always stayed in the Liverpool area?

Found this, may just be a coincidence with the name and age:

Publication:Gloucestershire Echo
Publication date:Thursday 30 July 1936

Article text:
"Margaret Hilda Kendrick, aged 28, of Bristol, and inflicting grievous bodily harm upon her. verdict of not guilty was returned and Knapman was discharged. Knapman denied allegations made by Miss Kendrick that in spite of her protests he took her in his car"

Have skimmed the article and it doesn't say much about her. Basically this chap had more or less abducted her in his car and she was found on the road with blood on her face.

Thats very inconsiderate of Hector (as above) if he had died just one year earlier he may have been found on the National Probate Calendar and possibly a clue or two :-D

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 30 Jun 2013 14:52

Every time my subs to other sites come up for renewal I ponder shall I ???

Most of my family tree is back to parish records so I really need local Records Offices which isn't easy cos we don't live in the areas they did.

Silly moo that I may be but I do renew cos I enjoy finding family for others just as much as BINGO moments when I found mine.

Even buy units on Scotlands People cos I am inquisitive and want to help.

Have to say too my Genes subs are more for looking for records than my own family . Have made contacts tho through genes for family connections which is great

Hi Rose glad you are feeling better,if you really want a puzzle I can give you one,it was on here years ago and I can't find the thread.

My mother,Hilda Joan Kendrick was born in Liverpool April 28th 1927. Cert states mother of her as Margaret Hilda Kendrick,no father stated, registered in mid July.

Hilda Margaret Kendrick died in Bristol 5th March 1941,aged 32.

She gave birth to a son Hector Valentine Charles in August 1940 father Hector Charles Valentine Rysart.

This is the only paper evidence that I have of my grandmother. My mother told me that she was Catholic, possibly half or wholly French and that she was an opera singer with the Carl Rose opera company

That is it,I have searched for years to find out who she was but nothing so far,and my mother is now with her maker so no help there. I will trawl through the threads to see if I can find the old one for you Good luck.

endrick died in Bristol March 1941 :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Not sure if either of you do FB but the are always look ups wanted on the various Genealogy commercial sites on FB ..... as well as the free ones like FS

I was doing some interesting Norfolk look ups last week on one site family history site

Enjoying turning the pages ..and squinting to read the old parish records
