don't think they freeze well, though having said that I buy frozen summer fruits in M & S and there are strawberries in that - perhaps you have to "open" freeze them - why not google to find out?

Think my mum freezes and makes smoothies with them

She said she spent £40 on plants this year??? cheaper to buy punnets in the supermarket

I prepare them, freeze on a tray, then bag up.

I then take out what I want to put into trifles etc.

Tend to be a bit mushy when they are defrosted but they are fine in other dishes like trifles. Or make strawberry puree and freeze that - yummy with vanilla ice cream.

they must be dry to freeze spread on a tray bag frozen ..but tend to mush easy when thawed,

prepare them, freeze them, flat on a tray, none touching another berry, put in a freezer bag OR box after 24-48 hours


Pull out a few at time to have on cereal

OR use them to make jam during the winter.



We freeze all kinds of berries when in season .................... raspberries, tayberries, etc. We still have a few blueberries left from the ones we froze July last year.

We each had a smoothie tonight - next door got a litre box full and it is jam making tomorrow. But there are more and more to come.

Have made jam from frozen raspberries so will try some.

Jax - sounds like a lot but 30 years on we have never bought a plant - your mother will simply take 'runners' off the original plants each year.
