Hiya GiN, Josh Brolin son of James Brolin Barbra's
husband.
Josh and Minnie got engaged in the 2001 but broke up
in October2001.
My OH loves to look up these sort of things :-D :-D

Loved it!
Even shouted out at the same time as Minnie re: Uncle's occupation.

If you haven't seen it already it is certainly worth watching.

I am possibly only person who had never heard of Minnie Driver before. But, yes, I really enjoyed programme and she was so enthusiastic and nice.

I wonder where she and Uncle Lesley got acting gene from :-S

I loved her enthusiasm when they actually had HER doing some research :-D

Don’t worry John – we’d never heard of her either!

It was a good show and the research was slightly more realistic ie being told she’d have to order a certificate and wait a few days for it to arrive.

Mauatthecoast Report 8 Aug 2013 11:16

I enjoyed the programme and thought Minnie Driver to be a loving person. It was very emotional when she spoke of her father and his exploits during the war. All those brave young men who gave their lives! very poignant when she learnt of her father throwing his medal into the water.

I was very interested with her story, not just because they came from the North of England, but because my grandparents were actors too, and I paused the scenes a few times when reading the Stage reviews (I have lots) but didn't see my names.
I agree a good one this week :-D love these programmes.

I thought that that this programme was about one of the best, if not No.1.

I would like to see another programme - following her father's other family if she had half brothers and sisters etc.

She probably will chase the rest of her trees up. Re throwing the medal into the water, I can relate to that - he probably thought that was a poor substitute for his friend's life.

I also thought that Chris, his emotions at loosing his
best friend and him being a young man at the time
too much for him to carry.

I think you will probably find that her fathers 'other family' were from his marriage and she was the daughter of his mistress. I would imagine that even if approached they in all probabiity would not really want to be involved.

Apart from mentioning his wife and other family at the beginning, and a single photo of them on their wedding day, no real mention of this family at all..

Minnie Driver has been around for quite a while (I think she was also acting when a child). She came across as a truly lovely lady, and was so sweet when talking to her elderly relatives. She could easily have been condescending, but no, she was just so lovely with them.

Looking forward to next weeks Leslie Sharpe.

So far I have really enjoyed this series.

Oh and Nicky Henson is the current Mr. Twiggy.....

Rambling Report 8 Aug 2013 14:37

DazedConfused, Is Twiggy not still married to Leigh Lawson?

I missed last night's programme, but will watch later. quite looking forward to Nick Hewer's episode, as I believe his parents were irish.

Really didnt think it would be interesting this week dont know that much about Minnie Driver , was it her that was involved in a big shop lifting case a few years back? denied but the shop had CCTV of her stuffing a dress in her bag.

Anyway I loved all the stuff about her Dads war service, and also nice to see me old mate Eileen helping Minnie out, also nice to see my home town got a mention in a good way for a change not reporting a murder. :-D :-D

Roger

Roger Report 14 Aug 2013 22:25

Well after last weeks brilliant programme this weeks was a let down.

To me this one reminds me that I think the programme is coming to the end of its useful life.

As the final part had nothing to do with her family in my opinion. Just an ego trip for her.

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 15 Aug 2013 07:41

Don't know ego boost for her Roger, but I too had high hopes for this one.

I found her adoption about her interesting, and when she decided to trace her birth fathers side I had high hopes, but to it sort of drifted off. Her interest in the Bardardo boys I couldnt understand the relivence of what happened to them I got to the bit when 1 was sent to Canada and then fell a sleep so if anyone would like to tell me what happens next I'd be grateful thank you :-D
