Try sticking the Nozzle of your vac over the Fan ,it should suck out the fluff and dust.

Be careful!!

Last year a house burned down in our town, because a laptop was left on a sofa when the owner went to bed.

That's what the fire service investigators said.

On the bottom of the laptop you will see a series of panels. These give access to such things as the battery, memory, hard drive and the fan.

It is fairly easy to work out which one covers the fan 'cos the vents are near it.

Sometimes the cover just slides on but more often then not it is secured with small screws. These are usually small philips screws but sometimes star drive or torx. You can get the screwdrivers in Maplin, Dyas and so on.

Remove the battery cover. It should now be possible to see the fan. It will be secured with one or two small screws. Lift it out a little way. Using a can of compressed air ( about £ 1 Maplin ) blow all the fluff and dust out of the fan. Make sure the vent apertures are not blocked up with dust and fluff too.

Re-assemble. It will no longer overheat.

With most laptops wedging something underneath so the laptop bottom is not directly in contact with the desk etc helps cooling especially in hot weather.

Nolls all computers have a fan or fans,,,,,,

LT are prone to overheating if air cannot flow and over time will cause damage or weaken the components.....also fans disperse the heat, they also suck up bits of stuff floating in the air,,,,,,never use a LT on a carpet, bed or cushion for long.....

Nolls mostly you wouldn't even hear it.

Be careful of these cheap laptop rests. Some of them actually block the airflow because the fans are not in the same place on all laptops.

Just for info, I brought a gadget from poundland that raises the laptop from the table
It opens into a X shape and is slightly higher at the back which makes the keyboard easier to use as well as letting air circulate under the laptop.
