Going up all the time!

We got fed up with it and had solar panels installed about four months ago. They should pay for themselves within 5 years.

Arranged with the electricity supplier to sell them any excess (meter readings done every quarter), at 7.7 cents per kilowatt hour (if we had the panels installed years ago, we would have been paid much more, and the price would not change).

Got a letter from them today, informing us that ~

on 28 June 2013, the Independent Pricing & Regulatory Tribunal revised the minimum retailer credit amount for NSW.

They will now pay us 6.6 cents/kWh.

They charge more, but pay us less!

What a cheek.

Why am I not surprised. We once priced it up but reckoned it wasn't worth taking up at our age. Hope you do manage to pay for it though. :-)

Same here - we priced it up and decided it would take over10 years to pay-back. That wouldn't have taken into consideration the cost of the inevitable repairs.

We get more sun in sub-tropical NSW than you do in UK :-D

There are six houses in our street (8 if you include the two on the corners, facing the other street), three of the six have solar panels, and one on the corner also does. Probably 30% of residents in our town have solar panels. It's only a small town, around 5,000 people.

We haven't had a "proper" electricity account yet.

Also, we changed our supplier to one that gave us a better deal (22% discount for the first year).

We have so many electricity companies, and they are all bandits! They play silly games, trying to get customers, so we play the games, go with the one that gives us the best deal. I think we've used at least three companies in the last five years.
