It's not me.

You can try negotiating with him if you like but he is very possessive about his jam. It is, after all, the only thing he has to eat at home.

Fred and his mate brought in some cherry plums on one of their scrumping missions so I made jam with them.

I think there must be something addictive in cherry plum jam because, every time he has his lunch at home, Fred wants bread and jam. Is it any wonder the poor old chap has to spend his own money on eating out when that's all he gets.

It's that daughter of his that I blame. She takes all his money, apart from the pocket money she gives him and spends it on fripperies like electricity and council tax.
