It has been advertised on the sides of the Cheltenham buses

Word had obviously got around faster that it was on where you live Ann! Our nearest cinema doesn't advertise in the local paper anymore and I think it makes a big difference as not all (especially older) folk are on line.

We are going tonight Ann, glad you enjoyed it. I could watch Judi Dench in anything.

Edit. Philomena was on Woman's Hour on radio 4 last week she sounded a very nice gentle woman, it's so sad she never got to see her son.

Annx we went to the 13.30 showing too and couldn't believe how many silver surfers there were in there.

We went to see it yesterday too Ann and really enjoyed it. We went to the 13.30pm showing so there were only about a couple of dozen of us, but we did get a sweet rustler sitting behind us!! Yes, Judi Dench is very good whatever she is in.

Good to hear you enjoyed it Ann. I don't go to the cinema much but will definitely be going to see this one :-)

I love anything with Judi Dench in.

The cinema was packed, hardly any seats spare and those all across the front rows. And I only spotted about 2 people under 50. There was not a cough, any talking or any rustle of sweet papers for the whole of the film.

But there were still some at the end who forgot it wasn't like the old days when you had to rush out to miss the N Anthem. :-D

Anyone else seen the film. We went today and thought it was very good starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan. A true story based on the book Martin Sixsmith wrote in 2009 about Philomena Lee. A young teenager who had an illigitimate baby in Ireland and about the harsh regime of the nuns, the Magdalene Laundry the girls had to work in and how they sold the babies. The story centres on the search of Philomena for her child.

I can't judge if it was authentic but Judi Dench sounded as if she had the Irish dialect off very well.
