My daughter's friend was in the bar last night on a girls night out.
My daughter knew she was in there because of a FB post at 9pm

The friend posted again late last night/ early this morning to say she and her friends all got out OK .
They are very shaken up but thanked everyone who came to their rescue and got them home safely.

Tragic for all involved as well as the firemen and others who are helping in the rescue etc.

My heart goes out to those who were innocently in the pub not knowing what danger there was above them and their families and friends who are waiting for news.

My condolences to those families who have lost loved ones.

An absolute tragedy, just watching it on the morning BBC Breakfast news - special thoughts for all those caught up in this

a similar thing happened a few roads away from me a few years back - I live near Jct 32 of the M4 and a police helicopter over the motorway - and we hear them all the time - just fell from the sky on top of a semi-detached house - it wrecked the house and doused it in aviation fuel - incredibly no one was injured but the mental trauma of the residents was mega - the house had to be rebuilt

I have fond memories of the Clutha, it was always a popular venue for those who liked live music and a singsong, on a historical note - it is one of Glasgow's oldest pubs and in days gone by it was known as The Merchant, The Weemann's, and The Pipinjay.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those caught up in this tragic incident :-(

Just seen this on Breakfast Tv......
Thoughts go out to all involved.
They've just said they can't confirm any numbers of casualties.
They formed a human chain to get people out of the busy pub,but still a lot trapped.

Update from The BBC at at 04:40am this morning:-

The crash happened at The Clutha in Stockwell Street at 22:25 on Friday.

Police Scotland confirmed there were three people on board the helicopter - two officers and a civilian pilot.

There have been "numerous" casualties but police have not confirmed whether anyone has died. It is not known how many people are still trapped inside the pub.

A senior fire officer said they had made contact with some people trapped inside the pub but the building was very unsafe and they were taking a "methodical" approach to the rescue.

It has been reported that about 120 people were in the pub at the time of the crash. Many were rescued or escaped but others have been trapped by a collapse on the left-hand side of the building.

Crash is in the city centre - details are still very sketchy but hope that all GR members, relatives and friends in the area are safe.
As an ex mobile phone manager - don't panic if you cant reach a relative or friend in the area by mobile phone - the network will be under massive pressure tonight and priority for service will be directed at the emergency service requirements.

I live just outside Glasgow and am watching the news too.
It looks really scary and it's definitely a police helicopter that crashed.

The police have already tweeted that their thoughts are with the crew and their families
