I tried to access GR about 9am but couldn't get in.
Thinking that Safari was playing up, I switched to Google Chrome and tried again.
Nothing was happening, then I noticed...
A message at the bottom of the screen said "Attempting to contact Genes Reunited"
I gave up, and came back later, which is when I got the technical problem message from GR

Logged on ten minutes or so ago and not experiencing any difficulties so it looks like whatever the problem was has been fixed.

As usual that is the standard answer for eveything..

What GR need badly is a decent IT expert that gets the site working 100% not flapping around.
A good salary for a good IT expert.but of course that's one thing GR are lacking is an expert. :-( :-( :-(

Shelley, I think you still are,Had to signh in again twice so far,keep getting "No Response" and the adds are once again going Slow Slow Quick Quick Slow, More like Victor Sylvesters Dance Acadamy than GR. :-(

Spent half an hour trying every which way to get on to the site, then gave up until now.
No info of any description. Just guessed it was a general problem

Not at all a happy bunny, I was in the middle of doing some work on my tree when suddenly everything just stopped working - I had to use task manager to get off the site and when I tried to log back on, for well over two hours I got was this message:-

Sorry

We seem to be experiencing some technical issues. Please bear with us, we will have the site back up and running very soon.

Genes Reunited will be back very shortly

I did get logged back on at about 11:30am for about 1 minute before everything stopped working again :-(

With all that is going on with the genealogy portfolio of D C Thomson/Brightsolid at the moment, I have a sneaky feeling what happened is more than a coincidence, in that it occurred, at the same moment in time that findmypast announced changes that will be happening on their site, telling users how they would affect them, as it seems they are introducing new features including a new and improved family tree - that those changes had anything to do with what happened on GR will probably be denied ;-)

I am researching the Wotherspoon family from the Old/New Monkland areas of Scotland, some moved to the Leslie and Kelty areas of Fife and I'm having problems linking the Wotherspoon's from Leslie and the Wotherspoon's from Kelty. I am also researching the Clusker family from Co. Meath in Ireland who moved to West Lothian and from there to Fife............"Vita non est vivere sed valere vita est"

hello I have had an email from fmp that there was to be a new tree etc I thought it was to do with gr as I am not a member and never been of fmp and came on chat to see what was happeng :-S

Same here OFITG,it's been of for at least 2 hours.
I was just getting Technical problem and we will be back as soon as we fix it.

Site stopped working, tried to get back in and kept getting messages saying either an error had ocurred or that there were technical problems, eventually got back in but some functions don't seem to be working as I cannot access my message boxes :-( :-S
