:-D 'Liquid Pickfords'

I'd take a few deep breaths before it 'kicks in' - it could be difficult for a time afterwards..... :-S

Sharron Report 6 Apr 2014 10:49

OH has just been downstairs and he says it looks like we have Fred back, Goh help us!

Unfortunately the liquid Pickfords hasn't worked yet but it looks like he will be again leading us a merry dance through life.

Hope Fred perks up soon, Sharron, and you can stop worrying.
I have to admit to agreeing with the 'natural laxative' approach. That's what his body is used to. The antibiotics could be causing the 'blockage'.
My body reacts in the opposite way to antibiotics - even if it says 'may cause constipation' - my body laughs at this warning :-S :-0 :-(

A rough few days Sharron, here's hoping that tomorrow is a better day for Fred and for you too. (((hugs))) for you both. xx

I have not asked them to.

He has not been eating his dried apricots while he has been unwell.

All the time we can do it with prunes and dried apricots we will not be resorting to more things from the medics if we/I can help it.

Sharron surprised medics have not given Fred the little brown tablet which moves/softens the bowel.

He has not missed a whisky while he has been ill.

This one he had to follow with a glass of prune juice which did make me wonder what they would be like mixed together and how devastating the hangover would be should you ever be tempted to over- indulge in said mixture!

Whisky, that has to be a positive sign. Fingers crossed then.

That's lovely to hear Sharron...cheers Fred :-D <3

Sharron Report 5 Apr 2014 21:18

As it happened, he managed to get something into his leg bag himself so I rang back to the out of hours and told them I probably didn't need any advice this time.

I think the anti-biotics have started to work. He seems to be a bit more with it now.

And he has had his whisky.

Sharron Report 5 Apr 2014 19:51

He is starting to look better but I have had to get on to the out of hours doctor because the carers noticed there was nothing in his leg bag.

Just waiting for them to ring back.

Is there no combination he will not try?

It must be very worrying for you .

Hope the fruit has the desired effect ;-)

Sharron

Sharron Report 5 Apr 2014 16:18

I think he might be a little bit more alert today but maybe I am fooling myself.

Anyway, I am tipping prune juice into him and he is eating dried apricots.

Probably I should be giving him laxatives but we are still trying everything else first.

All best wishes to Fred and yourself.

A worrying time, but I hope he will soon feel alot better.

You have a good ally there in Fred's mate, who seems as keen as you are to keep things as normal as possible.

Sharron Report 5 Apr 2014 14:57

He is very sleepy today which I am hoping is part of the healing process although the carers think he may have had another stroke.

His mate is pushing him round the village today. It seems important to keep him as interested as possible.

I am rather hoping that when the prunes shift the eight days worth he might perk up a bit too!
