Can I as a platinum member of genes reunited use the sister site for australia, without further charge

Yes, because it has exactly the same information as Genes.co.uk, Genes.co.ca etc.

It is not a sister site in the usual sense of the word. I'm sorry if you hoped to be able to get lots of different records.

Even those of us who are standard members can use the Australia site exactly as we use this one ............. which means we can search the records but not see details of them.

I find that I cannot access the uk site sometimes, and then I use the New Zealand or South African sites :-)

The only difference between the UK, Australia, NZ and South African sites is that if you show your residence as in one of the countries, GR will charge you your sub in the local currency ....................

I found this out when they suddenly told me some years ago that my sub was due in American $ ................

the rationale was that as I lived in Canada, I couldn't pay in UK £ and GR did not have a Canada version, so the nearest was $US

I worked out that the exchange for £ to US$ (by GR) to $Can (by my credit card company) would cost me almost twice the amount of the £ amount

As a result, my residence is now shown as being in the UK :-D ......... that is the only solution support could offer me.

If you're trying to trace relatives in Australia, you might find this site useful: http://www.nla.gov.au/research-guides/family-history

If there are specific people you are looking for, you could start a thread on the Find Ancestors board or Find Living Relatives board. People with access to records on other sites are usually willing to give a helping hand. ;-)
