They are not accepting payment by debit/credit card and using a season ticket it is checked by a human (!) rather than shoving it in the exit thingy. Cash only.

It seems as if it is like that all over the UK.

That's odd.

Last time I used one was the NCP managed car park at Addenbrooke's last autumn, all automated. Reg no printed on ticket as you enter, pay on foot machines, card, coins notes, auto barrier on exit reads Reg no and opens without human intervention at all (assuming you have paid), didn't even need to shove ticket in the thingy.

According to online info all NCP are able to choose their method of payment which still includes cards.

They have handwritten signs on the pay machines cash only present season ticket at exit for manual check. NCP finances have been fragile for some while.
