I'll tell you what. You give me your bank details and next time somebody from Africa contacts me about another poor soul being killed in a car accident and leaving all that money that only needs an account to be put in, I will pass it on to them.

Then you will have lots of money like me!

Caroline Report 19 Apr 2017 23:14

In that case Sharron if you ever won the lottery; which you won't because you don't play; I'm sure I can speak for Maggie in saying feel free to send some to us and we'll be in the posh seats on your behalf :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 19 Apr 2017 23:12

How little you understand about me Maggie.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 19 Apr 2017 23:09

Not if you won a lot of money on the lottery, Sharron :-D

...the border guards who came on the coach left us alone too - didn't even want to see our passports.......

Sharron

Sharron Report 19 Apr 2017 23:04

You sure Sharron wouldn't be in the cheap seats?

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 19 Apr 2017 22:46

True, Caroline. :-(

We weren't in the cheap seats ALL the time.
Trenhotel was the 'better' class, ensuite and all that.
We also found the border guards didn't bother us (or throw us off - unlike quite a few others') :-(

Caroline

Caroline Report 19 Apr 2017 18:20

Yes but Maggie Sharron wouldn't worry about cheap seats she'd be in first class scoffing down the posh nosh :-D

A seven week world trip sounds lovely :-D

Not done a world trip, but been on some quite long journeys.
Our trip from Scotland to England, when I was about 7 was on the Flying Scotsman. Not sure how long that took - but long enough with 2 cats on harnesses!!
.
Quite a few midnight trains from Glasgow to London (visiting from Shetland) They could be hairy - and noisy!

More recently (2014) I've travelled to Portugal (and back) by train.
My sister won't fly, and when mum died, we (her children) had to go to Portugal to sort out her affairs.
One brother went in his van (to bring stuff back), the other his car.
Sister and I went to Paris on the Eurostar, then to Barcelona.
At Barcelona, we got the Trenhotel for an overnight journey to Lisbon, then another train from Lisbon to Faro.(mum lived in the Algarve)

On the way back, we got a coach from Faro to Seville, where we stayed a couple of nights, then a train to Madrid, train to Paris, and the Eurostar back to London.
(I think).

About 8 years ago, 10 of us went to Tuscanny by plane/train. That was novel - we had a 5 year old and two babies. :-S

Now herself has arranged a Scottish train trip, which is imminent :-(
Glasgow (2 nights/ 1 day) Mallaig, Skye (3 nights) Edinburgh (2 nights / 1 day).
She wants me to go with her, so I bought an old persons rail ticket (33% off at times).
She's got some pretty good bargains on the trains - London to Glasgow for £11 each for example.

It's good to dream Sharron
About things we would like to do and like me they will only ever be dreams

Whilst on your trip just throw dirty clothes away and buy new ones, you've "won" the lottery after all. As for the car make sure there's a new one waiting for you on your return :-D

I don't do the lottery but it doesn't stop me spending that enormous win I am going to have, not really, but in that other world I inhabit that you can't see.

There is a site that offers luxury train holidays and I have settled on spending part of my imminent millions on the seven week world train trip, as you do. (Any guesses who will have already been on it?)

Why am I such a joyless old git? Of course I will enjoy seeing the sights and eating the luxurious food but my mind is now pre-occupied with thoughts of how many of what clothes I will need to buy, how I will get my washing done, who can I get to start my car a few times and move it so the brakes don't bind, would I have to run the freezer down a bit, will my hair need cutting?

I am not even going to win the lottery even!
