In the good old days, before things became controlled, the engineering students at the university here used to pull all sorts of pranks for April 1. Many of them involved a VW Beetle.

One of the ones I remember was hoisting a Beetle to the very top of one of the lamp standards along a major road to the university. Quite the sight at 8 am in the morning!

Another time, the Beetle appeared on top of the Bell Tower in the centre of the university.

Nobody ever worked out how they did it, and it took longer for the university's labourers to get it down than it did for the engineers to get it up there!

Andysmum - :-D :-D :-D

Regularly used to shop in Annan we lived at Kirkpatrick Fleming.

'Big' food shop was in Tesco's in Carlisle, where we occasionally met Chris Bonington! :-D
