But would same sex marriages be registered in the same way as opposite sex marriages?

They are in Scotland, on Scotlands People, so I imagine they are in other parts of the UK too.

On SP, civil partnerships , from before same sex marriages were allowed, are registered as civil partnerships, but same sex marriages are registered as marriages, along with all the opposite sex marriages.
