..for comfort.

A quite extensive bush fire broke out yesterday, about 3 kms form where we live. The main Highway between Bunbury and Perth was closed in both directions and the local shopping centre (2 kms from here) was evacuated, as were some homes in the vicinity.

Low flying Helitak helicopters plus fixed wing fire-fighting planes were brought in to help fight the fire.

Thankfully things appear OK this morning

A bad fire in the Hills area yesterday (Parkerville)

The Bush Fire Season has started early this year :-(

Oh Allan, what a shock you got. Hopefully things have settled down.

My cousin is south of Sydney and last year, the fires were close to his back garden and was nearly evacuated but thankfully all was ok.

Such a worry for you and your family.

Take care

All is well now, but traffic was still in chaos this morning due to several road closures.

An extremely small price to pay for the efforts of the firefighters!

Perth (Parkerville) was not so fortunate, four houses lost, but at least all are safe.

Not an ideal start to Christmas :-(

Pleased that you are ok Allan but sad for those who have lost their houses at Christmas. Pleased nobody was hurt. Well done to the firefighters.

Happy Christmas Allan and family.
25th has arrived there!

Which date are you celebrating, ... today and in January ?

Allan

Allan Report 24 Dec 2023 20:57

Thank you Gwyn:-)

Both, although we will have Ukrainian style dishes in January.

For the first time since being in Oz we will be having a ham today when our daughter visits and then again on Boxing day when our son pops in. Unfortunately he is working today

Prepared the ham yesterday as today is forecast to be in the mid thirties
