Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armour of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6 10-13 RSV.

Good Morning to all :) When my Mum died I inherited her family bible and it is so wonderful to read it noting her comments in the margin. That is why I am using the RSV this week as it is Mum's. From Psalm 19 The heavens are telling the glory of God and the firmament proclaims His handiwork. Day to day pours forth speech and night to night declares knowledge. There is no speech nor are their voices heard; yet their voice goes out through all the earth and their words to the end of the world. Vonny

Oh Vonny I've not been on the boards for sometime and have come across your thread. Its been such a blessing and encouragement to see so many people adding their favourite verses and thereby giving their own little testimonies. Thank you all so much. I have so many favourites but the Lord used John 11:25 to bring me to faith, so I'll quote that now: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And for those whose burdens get so heavy sometimes: Cast all your cares upon Him, for He careth for you. 1 Peter 5: 7 Many Blessings Dorothy

Happy are you when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of evil lies against you because you are my followers. Be happy and glad, for a great reward is kept for you in heaven. This is how the prophets who lived before you were persecuted. Matthew 5v.11

Psalm 130 1 Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD; 2 O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. 3 If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? 4 But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared. 5 I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope. 6 My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. 7 O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. 8 He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.

A nice, dare I say, brave thread. I always like the verse from revelations (3.20 from memory)- 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door........'(remembering in the famous picture, that the the catch on the door is only on one side, for you to open.) Happy days

Judging Others. Do not judge others, and God will not judge you, do not condemn others, and God will not condemn you, forgive others, and God will forgive you. Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands- all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you. . St Luke 6 v 37 Gwyn

God is our refuge and strength, an ever - present help in trouble. The Lords Supper. Then He took a piece of bread, gave thanks to God, broke it,and gave it to them, saying, This is my body, which is given for you.Do this in memory of me. In the same way, He gave them the cup after the supper, saying,This cup is Gods new covenant sealed with my blood, which is poured out for you. St.Luke chapter 22 v19 Good News version.
