Member Since: November 2008 Posts: 80 Send Message	I’ve been doing some searching at Edinburgh Library into the birth of Elspeth Lamb, born c.1691 at Carriden (or maybe Bo’ness). There are two possibilities: OPR 663 Bo’ness - Elspeth Lamb born in Bo’ness and baptised February 10th 1685, parents (David/Duncan?) Lamb & Elspeth Cairns OPR 664 Carriden 10/3/1691 – Elspeth Lamb born 10 March, bap. 20 March 1691. Parents John Lamb & Isabell Cairns. I THINKING perhaps John Lamb and David/Duncan Lamb were brothers and Isabell Cairns and Elspeth Cairns were sisters. So we’ve got two Elspeth Lambs who were cousins and born within a few years of each other – which one is the wife of Thomas Grant and the mother of Thomas Grant who married Euphame Robertson? Member Since: November 2008 Posts: 80 Send Message	Thanks for that, Ann. But now that I've found the other Elspeth Lamb born in Bo'ness I'm doubtful as to her pedigree. How do you know the Elspeth Lamb you've listed as Thomas Grant's wife was born in Carriden in 1691? In the OPR for Carriden marriages it says – Thomas Grant and Elspeth Lamb both in this parish gave up their names for proclamation in order to marriage August 7th 1713. There's nothing to tell me who her parents were or her age. She could have been born in Bo'ness but living in Carriden when she got married. There's nothing I can see that tells me which Elspeth Lamb she is! How do I find out? Will we ever know for sure? Cheers Diana
