Marriage look-up request Harris & Sainsbury.

Looking for a Marriage between George Harris c.1837 born in Poland and Jane Sainsbury c.1838 born in Beckington, Frome. Their first child Martha Harris c.1856 was born in Portsmouth and their second child Rachel c.1858 was born in Southampton. The family moved to Frome,Somerset and are on the 1861 Census there. I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions where to look. Thanks -Olive. |

Olive... HAve you tried freebmd.org and you can search the BMD index on Ancestry. Jane is on the 1851 census with her family and as the first child was born 1856 you onlyhave 5 years to search ( Hopefully !) ESta |

Marriages on FreeBMD are very sketchy in the year 1853 and Sep 1/4 of 1856 so they will not show on the basic FreeBMD. Take into account Jane was born 1837/8 so she was young when married and had her fist child...marriage may be after the first child was born? Suzanne |

Funny I cant find the childrens births either, although Rachel's baptism is on IGI but mother just Jane. Suzanne |

Thank you everyone who responed to my message re: George Harris c. 1837 and Jane c.1838 may never have been married. They had a large family and after Jane died in 1892 George married Mary Brooks on July 18th.1897. George died 2nd.February 1909 aged 72 years. Thank you very much for your help and suggestions.
