How do I get started

Start with yourself and work back drawing a tree as you go. Parents, then Grandparents, great grandparents. See if family members have birth/marriage/death certificates. If not send for them yourself. And to do this, maybe switch this question to the Find ancestors board where you will get help and advice from members who do research. See the list of other boards one the top left.

Good luck

Oh and hello, nice to 'meet' you.

1. Enter as much information as you can into your family tree.
2. Speak to your relatives and see if they can tell you more.
3. Search other members' trees and see if anyone is researching the same names.
4. Use our historical records to discover new facts and attach to your relatives.
