I am trying to locate the Smith family who lived in Howick NZ in the1980s. Harold, Brenda and their children Philip, David, Susan and Karen. Harold was born in Yorkshire England in 1922. I'd be grateful for any help in finding the family!
Gail :-)

Hi, Gail.

Welcome to the boards.

Have you tried "Search all trees" under the Search button above?

Put in the names you have and if you find a possible match you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a connection.

Hi Gail,

Smith is a very common name. Can you give a few more details - is it just plain Howard or are their other names and Brenda - just plain Brenda or a middle name. Do you have the Howick address?

I will look once I have more details.

Hi, and thanks a million!

I appreciate that Smith is a common name- it was mine too before I was married - and so I have found research into the family really difficult! I do know that Harold and his family - wife Brenda and choldren David, Philip, Susan and Haren lived at 40 Ridge Rd., Hoeick in the 1980s. Harold was born in Wath on Dearne, Yorkshire, England in 1922. I believe he died in the late 1980s, but I am not sure. I am very keen to find this family, as Harold was my father, and his children are my half brothers and sisters.

Thanks again for offering to help me!

Regards, Gail

Hi Gail,

Have sent you a pm - this is the current family still living on Ridge Road. Don't forget to be cautious in your approach with the family. It will secure success if you are.

Good luck,

Sappho.

Hi Gail,

Try this:
https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/

This will give you information on whether Harold is deceased or not. I have made a quick search and there are, naturally quite a few Harold Smiths. Any other information on Harold? Middle name etc.

From this you get the name (and possibly address) of informant.

It is a start.

Found this and it could help:

http://www.northshorecity.govt.nz/ Click on this and then go to A-Z Services; the Ancestry Search. It gives online burial searches.

Once you have the exact date of death it does get easier even with a name like Smith!!

Hi again,

Have you had a look on Genforum.com genealogy search. There are messages about Harold Smith, but not sure it is your Harold smith. Don't think so, but you could add a message on there and then there may be replies.
