Hi, Fred,

Have you tried "Search all trees" under the Search button above?

If you find a possible match you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a match.

I would suggest that you delete the automatic message that is already in the message box and write your own as members will not open their tree without first establishing the connection with you.

There is a tree on Ancestry which has what looks like this family. This is assuming Joseph born 1885, died 1970 Govan.
However, they have the marriage as England:

Marriages Mar 1907 (>99%)
Bell Joseph South Shields 10a 1097
KENNY Elizabeth S. Shields 10a 1097
Waller Elizabeth S.Shields 10a 1097
WATSON Thomas William S. Shields 10a 1097

If you want help, you must give DATES

And if you hope to find contacts on GR....look in 'search all trees'.....that's why GR provide the facility

Hi Brummie Jan

Yes Joseph and Elizabeth were marrie in South Sheilds March 1907,
I assume that the other two names are the witnesses to the marraige.

Hi Fred -

The marriage reference given was from the GRO (General Register Office) index.
There are 2 marriages on the register page, so 2 grooms and 2 brides.

As you know that Joseph Bell married Elizabeth Kenny, then the other 2 names must have married each other. They *weren't* the witnesses.

To see the witnesses on your relative's MC, you either have to track down a copy of the Parish Register if that is were they married in a Church, OR order a copy of the MC from
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/
which will cost you £9.25.

Unlike Scotlandspeople, the GRO have not put any images for purchase on-line.

If you need information on what is on English and Welsh BMD certificates, try this link

http://www.dixons.clara.co.uk/Certificates/indexbd.htm

Buy the marriage cert........to find out how old they were....then use 'search all trees' to look for connections. The cert will also identify their fathers - if they knew them

Although, as these people were your grandparents, it seems strange that you profess not to know their dates

Being pro-active is the best way to proceed......just waiting for someone to contact you could be totally futile.

Hi I read your post regarding your family tree. I think my mum is your cousin her name is Elizabeth Kenny Bell . Joe Bell was my grandad my mums dad and her grand parents were Joseph Bell and Elizabeth Kenny from Glasgow. She has 11 brothers and sisters 3 of who have past away but most of them still reside in the Stirling area.

Hi Suzanne and welcome to GR - just in case Frederick doesn't check his threads when he logs on, send him a personal message (PM) by clicking on his name.

As long as he hasn't changed his email address since December, GR will notify him that you are trying to contact him.

Unread messages have an envelope icon against them when you check your own 'sent message' box.
