I'm trying to find my husbands birth father, he was adopted in 1971 at 6 weeks old in stetford manchester, we've found his birth mum but she did'nt want to speak about his father, but her sister was willing to give us information about him. His name is Ronnie he was born in manchester 1943-45ish surname possibly brocklehurst brocklebank brockle or brockleby, he work in the trafford park area as a steel fixer in the late 60s early 70s. We found his mother through genes reunited, we're hoping to find his dad on here too. Anyone who can help please do get in touch.

Many thanks
Paula

There is a possible birth in 1939 - too old?

Have you tried looking on free bmd?

Are you sure he was born Manchester? There are a couple born in Yorkshire, one is born 1942.
Does your husband's aunt happen to remember an address for him?
ADDED - meant to ask - does he have his adoption file?

Hi all, yes we have his adopted birth record, his birth mother didn't disclose his name or address the only details about his father was he was 28 white british, fair hair blue eyes medium height average build, worked as a steel fixer.his hobbies were music, mouth organ and guitar and he had a very strong temperment. His birth mother lived on chatsworth road stetford she was 19 when she gave birth. I think she worked at the same place as his father she was a copy typist in the trafford park area. His father would of be born in 1941-42 he was known as Ronnie.

Many thanks

Hi Paula.
As Patchem says, you can look for births on Freebmd, but there are quite a few possibilities unfortunately. You really could do with a bit more to go on.
Is there absolutely no other info from your husband's aunt - name of a parent or sibling, friends, rough idea where he lived, anything? Name of company he worked for even?
Otherwise you will have to resort to looking on 192.com/BT online. Or your husband might put his details on the National Adoption Register, just in case his father goes looking for him - always assuming he knew about him of course.

Hi Jan, the aunty is'nt really that helpful it's like she holding back, we've ask his birth mothers daughter to find info from her mother but no luck. He already put his details on the N.A.R. We know he lived Trafford. Ive done the free bmd on all surnames no matches apart from brocklehurst only two came up a Ronald Brocklehurst from Halifax and a Eric.R. Brocklehurst from manchester both born in 1942. We've also done 192.com but no luck, this was are last hope.

Many thanks

Well, there is always the big haul but it's a major undertaking and not to be done lightly. You would need to be local, or to spend a lot of time in Manchester. Brace yourself! It means checking every street in the Trafford area on the electoral register, one by one, It would take weeks or months of work and might be fruitless in the end, but if all other avenues fail it might be worth a try. The only redeeming factor is his relatively unusual name - you would almost certainly spot it straight away. My idea is you might be able to pin down his exact name this way.
Well, I did say brace yourself!

Think you can rule out the Halifax birth - born Q1/1942, died Q2/1942.

Hallo Paula,
Just a gentle reminder that any information you put on this thread will always appear on the Web for everyone in the world to read.
People who are still living might not like to read about themselves this way,
I hope you manage to solve your query,
Kind regards,
Peter
