G'day Jax
Sorry, did not expect a reply so quickly.
Yes but with no success, I've been able to contact living relatives of my other 3 grandparents but not my direct line.

Thanks for those Reggie
I have the 1891 census for Charles D Ireland & the 1901 for Agnes.
Also the 1911 for William C Ireland & the death cert of Marjorie.
Its the tracing of William C & any children born after 1911 that I cannot do.
The other 2 brothers of William C ( David & Hyam) came to Aust just before my GF, so I have them accounted for.
There was a William C Ireland died 1930 in Essex - could be him but how to find if he had any decendants?
Also unaccounted for is William Montague Ireland son of William Curtis Ireland who was 21 in the 1911 census I cannot trace him past that point.
The purpose I put this on the board was to may-be jog someone memory or maybe point me in another direction.
I have just sent a letter to an "Ireland" in Market Deeping (the only one) so maybe something will come of that.
Maybe I have to start and sent letters to those in the Middlesex area, but there's quite a few so I was a bit hesitant.

Deaths Dec 1930 (>99%)
Ireland William C 54 W.Ham 4a 159

The above would fit with 1911 census with regard to age.

Not sure why you query descendants for him........he was married with a child in 1911.

And I posted the death of his daughter...............

jax posted her marriage.......which you could have found yourself on freebmd

http://www.freebmd.org.uk

ErikaH Report 31 Jan 2013 23:35

To look for children AFTER 1911, look on freebmd............first for his marriage....then using the info from that, look for the children

It is a very easy site to use

EDIT

I see jax has already done all that for you...........

Why have you got the idea of a connection with Market Deeping?

Nothing posted on here suggests any recent connection with the place

In your attempt to trace William Montague Ireland, where have you looked?

He is on the London ER's from 1920 to 1938. From 1927 to 1938 he was living in the same residence as a May Lilian Ireland

Reggie
Descendants for William C ? - well in 1911 he had 1 child 5 mths old so after that he very well could have had more children, how do you find those by only knowing the names of the parents? I've never had any luck with FreeBMD in the past so have stopped looking at it because there is no way to check if you have the correct person or not, is there?
The connection to Market Deeping is that Charles F & William Curtis were born in Peterborough & their father & a further 4 generations before him were all born in Market Deeping (I mentioned MD in my original post)
I know that William M married a May L Chapman in 1915 but how does that tell me what children they had?
What is "London ER's"?
FreeBMD has a William Ireland death in 1964 in Runcorn plus another 7before that & at least 2 after all with birth dates about correct, they should also give the birth location & then you would have a chance, there isn't one for a 75 year old in Hertfordshire or St Albans?
The one you quote above, eventhough the birth date is good doesn't confirm that it is him, I guess one has to take the punt & get it to find out, gets expensive, again a birth location on the death index would mainly settle the matter.
Thanks for your time & suggestions, at least it is making me think about it again & in a different way.

The London ER's( Electoral roll) are on ancestry If William and may were living in London, the chances are they had one child born Islington 1917 (who married in 1938) and another in Barnet in 1928 who is also on the ER with them in 1950 & 1952

There are only two william M Ireland's born around that time the other one died shortly after birth in Yorkshire.....St Albans is not far from London so I would also say that was him...this is possibly his wife, as Watford is very near

England & Wales, Death Index, 1916-2006
about May L Ireland
Name: May L Ireland
Birth Date: abt 1891
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1967
Age at Death: 76
Registration district: Watford
Inferred County: Hertfordshire
Volume: 4b
Page: 348

But no you cannot tell if it is correct without purchasing the death cert and hopefully a reletive registered it

The child born 1928 was Maurice G and he went to Canada in 1954

The child born 1917 was Dora G married Herbert Wise she went to South Africa in 1948 and returned in 1955 to the same address that her parents were living...she remarried in 1964 in watford this is her death (date of birth given on passenger listing)

England & Wales, Death Index, 1916-2006
about Dora Grace Wilson
Name: Dora Grace Wilson
Birth Date: 6 Jun 1917
Date of Registration: Oct 2000
Age at Death: 83
Registration district: Southampton
Inferred County: Hampshire
Register Number: B64A
District and Subdistrict: 5001B
Entry number: 212

She had 3 children christine and Stephen born in the uk and Richard born whilst in SA...Stephen was not on the passenger listing with them, but there is a death in 1971 in York which matches his year of birth??

London ER's .............Electoral Registers!

And freebmd doesn't have ALL info..............the more recent records are on sites for which one has to pay (the source of the death I posted)

To find births after 1911 just enter BOTH surnames..............

BUT, jax did all that for you, and there was no other child of the marriage

And , to enlighten you a little about the British system.............until 1969, death certs did not carry birthplace details, or exact DOB's.

From 1969, that info is included on certs, but the index does not carry birthplace info. In any case, all such info is only 'as known' to the informant, and can easily be wrong.

Thank you both for your time, suggestions & the extra information on this.
I've taken the punt & have ordered the death certificates for William M & Charles F, see what those bring.
