Find Living Relatives

Hello, I do hope that someone maybe able to help me, I am trying to help my brother-in-law find his father a Mr Derek A Clarke who I believed came from the Dorset or Devon areas, it is possible he was born in or around 1933 and was believed to be a dog handler, plus I have been led to understand that it is possible he may have a half sister with a name starting with J, I would be very greatful for any help or information that could point myself in the right direction.

If you check on Freebmd, there are a few Derek A. Clarke's born 1930-36. However, there are none in Devon but one in Poole 1933 which i suggest you go with as it fits your info.

When you check for births after 1911, the mother's maiden name is given. You can use this to look for possible siblings, also marriage of parents if you are lucky:

Was this man married to your BIL's mother? if not does he know about him?

The one born in 1933 appears to have a full sister called Shirley.

Thank you so much, it's amazing the help so quickly, No my BIL mother was not married to him but has only just told him about his father in the last year or so and will only give very little info as I think her memory is now going as she is 82 and unwell..!! It's very sad for my BIL as he has so many questions but very little to no answers, so I am with all your help trying to help fill in his life's jigsaw puzzle, so Thank you all so much from me and my BIL :-)

Is the half sister Derek's or your BIL's?

My BIL was born in fulham sept 1960... And its believe that the half sister is his and could be around the same age give or take few years in both direction as i believe he never stayed around for my BIL's birth, i understand that it is possible that if live Mr Clarke may not want to be found or even meet my BIL but it would be nice to be given the chance or if he does have a half sister to maybe have some answers answered but there could be also the chance that he may never be that lucky, but thank you all so so much for listening and trying to help its all very greatfully received

The Derek born in 1933 married in 1957 and his wife's name began with J.

Looks like there was a daughter with the same name also born a few months after BIL. Also see and older son and another daughter.

Does your BIL know where Derek was living in 1960? If I am correct, it was not Dorset or Devon.
