This lady lived above Lyons Corner House in Leigh on sea, Essex and is believed to have worked with Nora Barrett there but her name is not known. Very little info I know, but I am enquiring on behalf of a possible cousin. Any help would be appreciated. Mavis Walker
Have just changed the details from London to Essex after talking to the ?cousin

Mavis, just to clarify, a few questions for you. Apologies for a bit of a list.
Do you know the birth name of this person? (Not asking for you to put here).
Why do you believe she was adopted?
Where does the info come from about the unknown lady who adopted her?

Do you know which Lyons Corner House?
There were several of them in London.

If you have an address, look at old electoral rolls to find her name.

I would have thought that if there was a Lyons corner house at some time in Leigh on sea I would have heard of it?

Maybe it was just a Lyons cafe?

rather than edit your opening post can you reply in the add your reply box please

I have explained to Mavis how to get back to her thread & add info.
I would agree Jax. I´m fairly sure that the Corner Houses were exclusive to London & that establishments in other towns were just known as restaurants or cafes.
