Well I'm sure glad I asked.

All this information you could have given at the very beginning, Jane -- you actually knew Maureen's year of birth all the time people were guessing, just for starters.

Phew. Very silly.

Since the date of birth of the Maureen Dainty who has died matches the date of birth of the Maureen Baker daughter of Bernard Baker and Eileen Miles, it is a sad outcome, but is it not fairly obviously the answer?

Unfortunately, it does not seem that Maureen Baker Dainty had any children.

ah ok realised why the 1939 wasn't adding up, the Eileen Ranger I posted is not Eileen Baker (nee Miles mother's maiden name Stovold) , its her mother ( this is what comes of my only using the index and not looking closely at the DOB!)

Eillen Miles parents:

Miles Charles A Stovold Brighton 2b 470
Stovold Ellen E Miles Brighton 2b 470

assume then that this is Eileen E Miles born 1913

1939 REGISTER TRANSCRIPTION (PREVIEW)
Ranger Household
Brighton C.B., Sussex, England
FIRST NAME(S) LAST NAME(S) BIRTH YEAR
E (Eileen) O'Meara (Baker) 1913

Not seeing a marriage to O'Meara so assume mistranscription? if someone could check the image

Yes I know from your tree and freebmd where he was born, that and the marriage to your mother in Edmonton are easy to find on freebmd.

Perhaps someone else can work out what the 1939 register entry signifies, as i am stumped by it?

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jul 2017 22:18

Bernard Augustine Baker, born in Redhill, in 1913, not Edmonton, married Eileen Miles, had a daughter Maureen E Baker in 1936, they divorced , and after the divorce went through, he married Joan Cecil Thompson

Rambling Report 9 Jul 2017 21:14

Jane have you confirmed beyond doubt that the Bernard A who married your mother is the same Bernard A? There are quite a few of them, did he marry again after the marriage to your mother and in same area, Edmonton?

Rambling Report 9 Jul 2017 20:56

Bernard A Baker was born 1913 according to Jane's tree, so definitely not the one that married 1919,

but the Maureen Dainty on 1939 is very confusing, if that is indeed Ellen Eileen Miles, or Eileen Ellen.... how come she is still married to Ranger, but with Baker child?

Have I lost the plot lol?

Something wrong somewhere!

Rambling Report 9 Jul 2017 20:24

Given that it's the same area, it appears likely that Brian Dainty remarried after Maureen's death but died 1996.

Marriages Dec 1925 (>99%)

Miles Ellen E Ranger Brighton 2b 601

The Maureen E Baker who later married Dainty is listed with Ellen E Ranger (as per the above couple) in 1939

E (Ellen) Ranger 1884
E (Maureen) Dainty (Baker) 1936
J (Arthur) Ranger and 2 more people are on this record

Jane, I have not the least idea what you are talking about.

Detective has said that the Dainty marriage was in 1963 (actually registered 1964).

You can't 'think' something (that the Dainty marriage was 1960) that simply is not so!

Detective then showed that the 1939 register (which was kept up to date by recording women's marriages, and married names, after 1939) showed only that one marriage for that Maureen.

Have you told us all you know about the Maureen you are looking for?

Do you know what year she was born? If so, will you tell us?
Do you know the name of your dad's first wife? If so, will you tell us?
Can you tell us your dad's name at least?
(Your dad and his first wife are deceased so there is no harm in telling us.)

If we know your dad's name, we could maybe find his first marriage (if you don't know when it was and to whom).

Then we could identify Maureen's birth so you would at least know what year she was born.

Maureen Baker Dainty's father was Bernard. ???

Did you even notice what I posted, about the Maureen who married Barnes, who had a child who had 3 children whom it might be possible to locate? (They might know who their grandmother Maureen is - whether she is the daughter of your father - or be able to put you in touch with their grandmother Maureen.)

If you would just answer some of these simple direct questions it might be possible to sort out this mess a bit! :-D
