Looking for Brynley C YEE born 1948 Salford.

Parents Sing O YEE and Beryl YEE nee DUE. Beryl and Sing (married in Liverpool) then seperated and Beryl remarried Edwin DAVIES in 1957 in Manchester. Beryl and Edwin once had a guest house on the Isle of Man which is where Beryl passed away in 1975. However when Beryl and Edwin married in 1957 Edwins children were told that Beryl did not have children or that they had died. We do know she had another child Jung YEE b1943 died 1944. But no death found for BRYNLEY.

We can not find a marriage for BRYNLEY or a death so possibly he left the country with his father who we believe was Chinese, or possibly was adopted and so name changed.

If anyone knows of this chap please get in touch.

Thank you
Cassie ;-)

I wonder if he was always known by that surname?

His birth on freebmd shows he was registered under 2 surnames suggesting perhaps that he might not be the son of Mr Yee.......?

Have you thought about purchasing the birth cert to see if he was adopted?

As has been mentioned Brynley appears to have been registered under two surnames, Yee and Edwards

There is a death of a Brynley C Edwards , salford, In the same quarter in which he was born

How sad.

The two birth registrations:-

Name: YEE, Brynley C
Registration district: Salford
County: Lancashire
Year of registration: 1948
Quarter of registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Mother's maiden name: Due
Volume no: 10F
Page no: 843

and:-

Name: EDWARDS, Brynley C
Registration district: Salford
County: Lancashire
Year of registration: 1948
Quarter of registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Mother's maiden name: Due
Volume no: 10F
Page no: 843

He would be registered with both surnames because his parents were not married at the time. His mother's surname at the time was Yee (even if she was not married or living with Mr. Yee at the time) and his father must have been a Mr. Edwards.

Brynley appears to have died in the following quarter to his birth and was registered as Edwards as perhaps his mother did not want him to have the Yee surname as she wasn't with Mr. Yee anymore. This is the death:-

Name: EDWARDS, Brynley C
Registration district: Manchester
County: Lancashire
Year of registration: 1948
Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Age at death: 0
Volume no: 10E
Page no: 338

Hi, Thanks Kathleen , Penny, Gwyn for the replies!!! Sorry for the delay in replying but my computer has just about given up the ghost and is struggling these days to gert on the internet and stay on - think a new machine is on the cards.

Wow thanks for the info. We had no idea he had the name EDWARDS!!! That answers a lot. His mothers step daughter had been told that both of Beryls (Brynleys mother) children had died. We could find a death for one but not for Brynley. Due to the circs at the time we believed he had possibly been given up for adoption.

Although we have no idea who EDWARDS is at least we know hes not out there. Next step to do a bit of Edwards research although Beryl did not marry anyone by that name so think we may order the certificate to see if father is named.

Thankyou ever so much forn the useful info. have a good weekend!! :-D

I'm pretty sure that as there is a birth registered in both surnames then the father WILL be named on the certificate otherwise it would be pointless to have two registrations. There will only be one certificate though.

How sad that both of her children died so young.
