My niece is trying to trace her biological mother Margaret Jones. She was named Sarah Jane Jones and was born in 1972 in Kirby Liverpool. She thinks her father was called David and that she has an older sister. Any information would be appreciated.

Linda, with such a common name your niece will need more information I think.
Does she have anything else at all, such as an address from her birth cert? I am assuming she is adopted, and has access to her adoption records.

If she is your niece, her mother or father must be your sibling

Reggie,
Perhaps Linda means her niece by adoption?

Linda,
Have you put your niece on your tree in her birth name, to help if anyone comes looking for her?

A niece can also be a daughter of a sibling-in-law.

In that case, Rose, wouldn't the OP have said 'my husband's niece'?

BUT.............whatever the actual relationship..................the best course of action would be for the young woman to add herself to the national adoption contact register.
