Hi trying to find my grandmothers son who we believe was adopted when he was a baby in early 40's late 30's. I believe my grandmother Glenrose Annie Ball had to go to Scotland (?) to have the baby ????? I have been trying for a while now but with no luck....Other names my grandmother could of used ( surname ) Hughes ...Goddard...knapp...ball...demery....

We do not have any information other than what I have written.

So desperate for any information what so ever

Please help !!!!!

have you looked at Scottish births?

whatever name she was using, the maiden name shouldn't change

Was she the one that married first time in 1917? ( born 1893)

Ball was her maiden name so any child she had would have that as mothers maiden name

Goddard was HER mmn so not sure why that would be used? If it was before she was with your grandfather Alan Knapp...then she wouldn't have used his name....who are Hughes and Demery?

Obviously I know she would of used her maiden name.....but all this was kept quiet and we have given other names as no one knew that she was having this baby.....to which these other family names could of been used.

We did not have a clue about any of this until after my grandmother passed away

It wasn't until after her death that one of my aunts said about it as she knew my grandmother had a baby when she was very young.....my aunt was told by my grandmothers mother and she didn't tell a soul :-(

Have you contacted the other people on genes who have her in their trees?

On your tree you have her born 1920, not 1921, any reason for this difference?

Where did the story about going to Scotland for the birth come from - there were homes throughout the country if necessary, Scotland is a long way from Windsor. If it was because there were relatives in Scotland, what part of Scotland was it?

Thank-you

Deborah

Hi yes year was 1921 just I haven't changed it yet

We was told by a family member that my grandmother had got into trouble (pregnant ) and she was sent to Scotland ????

It's so frustrating that we do not have much info

I have phoned a couple of places in Scotland including adoptions and places for single mothers around the years that birth was possible but they replied saying nothing at all :-(

But no one even knew about the pregnancy

Kay????

If a child was born and her single surname was BALL,that is what would be used to register the birth and any legal adoption that followed would be in the surname of BALL,,,,,although she could call herself any name she liked,,,,,where a legallity such as adoption was involved it would be unlawful to use it.

there are 90+births in Scotland registered in surname of BALL,between 1935 and 1945...the contents cant be viewed as there is 100 year closure, but can be viewed in personin Edinburgh or Glasgow at The Mitchell Library,,,,,but without any details of name it would cost 90+-times £12 each certificate to buy....and still not find anything........
