Hi there,
Yes, I think that's her. Thanks for looking. I'm in the process of going through people with that name that are on the electoral role!
Will keep you updated.

So pleased that your meeting with Madeline went well and that you saw some pictures of your mother.

Do you believe that Carol Beales was born about 1948?

If she was born locally then there is this - you can find full details in free bmd:

Births Sep 1948
Beales Carol M Worthing

Keep to one thread. You can always edit the title to make it more relevant.

Hi everybody,
That all seems such a long time ago now! My family and I went down to Cornwall in the Summer to meet my birth mothers step mother Madeline and Madeline's son Marc. They are both lovely and very welcoming, it was the first time I'd ever seen a picture of my birth mother and they told me lots of stories and family history, and gave me my mothers nursing watch.
However there is one person I'd love to trace, Madeline told me that my mother had a partner called Carol Beales and they had a house together (38 Hertford road, Brighton) in 1978. All I know is that she was also a nurse and was probably a similar age (30).
I wonder if someone could advise me, I've looked on 192 and found one lady who is married with children and seems a bit young. I've also contacted people on this web site who have people of the same name on their tree. I've looked in the local phone book.
I'm a bit stuck.
Also, do you think I should start a new 'thread', or carry on writing this old one. I'm still not sure how it all works!
Thank you
Alison : )

The reason you cannot see a picture, is because he hasn't added one...he only has one friend so very unlikely to be using Facebook

Thanks patchem,
My husband is on Facebook and he found who seems to be the only Garth Dalmain in the world!!! I think it said he lives in California, but his account has got security locks on it so I can't see a picture. The odd thing is that when I spoke to Madeline she said that my mother never menchioned a Garth Dalmain and had never heard that name before. Instead she said a name (which I had forgotten by the end of the phone call) and that he a a scooter. All seems very strange, Susan obviously didn't want to talk about this 'Garth'.
Spoke to Madeline again after sending her a letter with some phtos of myself and family, and she said that she will find some photos to send me.
I guess I will just have to wait a bit longer

There is actually a Garth Dalmain who belongs to facebook.
Does not look very active, but worth considering?

Search for Anthony P Cooper in Brighton. There is a free result partial post code BN1 which 'might' be him.

The phone book entry which could match with that is also listed

Brillant!
That must be him, you know 'Tony' rings a bell. I'm sure that's the name she mentioned. Wow, so he was 15 years younger! They had a family garage in Hove I think called Coopers cars. Although, a few years ago I found a record of it in being in Brunswick street, Madeline said it was near Hove Station. I'll see if I can find out more info on Tony, it would be nice to meet him if he's still alive.

Thank you,

Alison. :-)

Well done Shirley.
That must be him. I don't have his full birth date, but on his marriage certificate in 1948 it says that he is 23, so that would tie in. I must be doing something wrong in the searches, as I put the right name in and looked for a death record up to 2013- I didn't know that the death records on line don't go passed 2005.
I think I'll try to get a copy of his death certificate, Madeline told me that he had a younger brother (can't remember his name because I was in a bit of a fluster, but I'm writing to her now so I'll ask).
Thank you for all your help.
Thanks to Penny too.
Alison :-)

Pleased you are making more progress, with good results.

Have you got the birth date for Michael Nelson Lynn Cooper, to help in looking for deaths under different combinations of names?
