Thank you for your help patchem,

It was the right Madeline, I spoke to her this morning and she is lovely. She talked about my mother and other relatives and we promised to keep in touch.
She doesn't know if my paternal grandfather is still alive but I can't find a death record for him so he must be. She confirmed his name was Michael Nelson Lynn Cooper.
So I'll carry on the search for him.
I feel so happy to have spoken to someone who knew my mother, thanks again for your help.

Alison :-D

Wow, thanks that was quick!
I have the marriage certificate of Michael Nelson Lynn Cooper, and Eleanor Dorothy Nicholson and Death certificate of my mother Susan Margaret Cooper. I guess the next step is to get the marriage certificate of Michael and Madeline, and Madeline and Henry G Mason 1992, then I'll know a bit more. I'll have a look on 192.com, don't really know what that is - oh and look up where Reruth is!

Thanks again
Alison :-)

There is a Madeline M Mason and a Harry G Mason on 192.com in Redruth. However I have not looked to see if there is another couple for this name.

Welcome to the boards, Alison.

You seem to be finding out quite a bit!

Have you got all the birth marriage and death certificates for all the people that you have mentioned, just to make sure everything fits together?

Do you think Garth could be American?

Hi everyone,

Please can you help me, I'm new to all this. My name is Alison Marlow (born Eleanor Susan Cooper 06031970, Brighton) and last week after watching a certain programme I decided once and for all to find out more information about my birth mother Susan Margaret Cooper 25031949, Shoreham) so I became a member. Sadly I found a record of her death in 1978, 8 years after I was born.
Her fathers name was Michael Nelson Lynn Cooper born 1925, mother Eleanor Dorothy Cooper (maiden name Nicholson) born 1926. She left Michael in 1969 and moved to Hampstead London where she was manageress of a wig company. My mothers step-mothers name Madeline M Cooper is on her death certificate, they married a year later in 1979 in Hove. I believe Madeline married Henry G E Mason in 1992 in Haywards Heath.
I can't seem to find any more information about any of them.
I am desperate to find them to learn more about my birth mother before she died but don't know what to do next, and feel time is running out.
My father is named as Garth Dalmain, 03091941, a married naval officer, and I cannot find anyone under that name!
Any help appreciated , thank you.
