If the birth in Pontefract is correct, there are several brothers and sisters for him.

As he has no middle initial, finding any subsequent marriages may be difficult, particularly if he moved to another part of the country.

If he was born in 1923, then he could easily still be alive.

You need that marriage certificate.

There is another Bernard Goodwin registered in Coventry the same quarter.

I see Angela now. The mother's maiden name is listed as Voulden on FreeBMD.

The mother's maiden name on Angela's birth registration is mis-transcribed as Voulden.

The son that Rose mentioned above unfortunately died aged one before Angela was born.

Are you saying Angela's mother wasn't actually married to Bernard?

If you look on FreeBMD, you will see there was a son born to Hazel and Bernard.

There's a possibility that this is Bernard's birth (as he married in Pontefract):-

Name: GOODWIN, Bernard
Registration district: Pontefract
County: Yorkshire
Year of registration: 1923
Quarter of registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Mother's maiden name: Phillips
Volume no: 9C
Page no: 275

This is the only death for that name that matches up with the birth date above:-

Name: GOODWIN, Bernard
Registration district: Bristol
County: Gloucestershire
Year of registration: 1976
Quarter of registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Date of birth: August 1923
Volume no: 22
Page no: 0743

If this is the right person then the informant on the death certificate may have been one of his relatives.

Welcome to the boards, Matt.

Have you applied for the marriage certificate of Hazel and Bernard, so you can find out details about his Father?

Any idea where Bernard was born?

Thanks.

Added:
There is a birth in Pontefract in 1923, which is local.

I'm trying to find anyone related to Bernard Goodwin. He married Hazel Vodden in 1943, but left a few years later after having a child, Angela in Castleford
He was born around 1920 and thats all I really know.
Would love to know if my mother has any half brothers or sisters out there.

Thanks for looking
