And hence my suggesting that Mr Russell's mother may have been a Franks, and pointing out that there are several people who have a possibly matching Ms Franks in their trees at this website, by way of suggesting that you contact them to enquire ...

Hover your mouse over Search at the top of the screen, select Search all member trees, and search for Winifred Franks born 1921. You can contact the tree owners by clicking on the button beside their names, just be sure to explain why you are writing and not ask for access to their tree (which many people apparently do out of inexperience, and many people find intrusive).

Her parents may have been Walter Franks and Annie Louise Adams who married in 1904 in Croydon and were in Battle with several children in 1911.

I'm not seeing a connection immediately ... Walter was born c1866 in Battle ... in 1871 his parents were Robert and Harriet ... in 1881 his grandparents were Robert and Sarah ... all born in Sussex ...

that Winifred appears to be one of 4 Franks-Adams children born in Battle 1915-1921 ... possibly the mother was a widow not marrying under the surname Adams, but there was no Franks marriage in Battle around that time ... or that is not the right Winifred, even if that is the right Peter ;)

Hence my asking if you'd spoken to the landlord.........if he has put up a photo in his pub, presumably he knows the person who donated it

...............and are you planning to follow the advice about looking at trees on here?

Thank you so much for your replies.
Your info. Reggie is correct and I do have the same in my tree.
Percy's father Percy was my grandmothers brother.
I don't have a Winifred Franks in my info. at the moment.

My main interest was who is Peter Russell and how would he know Percy. ?

It would be interesting to track down more of the family I havent traced.

Regards.

WHO do you wish to contact?

Did you ask the landlord for info?

Have you looked on here in 'search all trees'?

Presumably, you have dates for Percy?

The name is not unique - what leads you to think that the photo is of your relation, and not just someone with the same name?

Hi,
this is rather a vague message- sorry.
I have Franks family in my tree;
I was in a local inn at Ashurst West Sussex yesterday.
On the wall was a photo of Percy Franks- my great uncle.,donated by
Peter Russell.
I would love to make contact with him or anyone with info.
regarding the family.
Thanks very much,
Babs.
