I did not know that Teresa Roberts remarried. Thanks for that info. How did you come across this ?

Sorry, are you saying that she re-married Michael Roy Kerbyson and had a daughter with him ? Where can you see the connection to Leo Roberts. Did she have any children with Leo ??

The GRO indices are on line up to 2006.

To find out if the GRO office can search for info for you..........phone them

try looking for his death at......................

Or

Do you know whether he attended his mother's funeral?

I have checked out the lead in Northern Territory. Unfortunately it is not the Leo J Roberts I am looking for. Thanks for all your help to date.

So I don;t know if Leo is still alive or not. Does anyone know if the UK's GRO Office provides information re deaths (if you only know date of birth and are not sure if the person is alive). is it my understanding that they only provide info, re deaths to 2006 ???

sorry, last time I had paid attention to the Ryerson Index main page it had a notice about requesting copies but I guess that has been removed.

I think you might also be able to ask a library locally ... people in Australia often suggest doing that.

oops, I didn't notice that Valerie had sneaked in ahead of me with just that advice!

you're welcome!

... in case it helps .... the 'Northern Territory Library' on-line will check their records -including elelctoral rolls and newspaper death notices.

I have searched the various websites attached to ryersonindex.net above without any success. I also filled out a request for an offline search by volunteers but got message back indicating than none are available to search this particular publication. In the meantime I have emailed the Northen Territory News directly to see if they have obituory archives going back to 2008

If you go to the Ryerson Index site

http://ryersonindex.net/

it explains how to request the details of the death notice there, for a small fee (I don't think it specifies the fee)

The 'Max' is a nickname, so it could be one he acquired on site :-)

Kevin

Kevin Report 12 Mar 2014 11:12

I do know that his full name was Leo John Patrick Roberts. No mention of Max. I wonder is there a more detailed death notice to the one above, indicating spouse (or fomer spouse)/family members ??

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 12 Mar 2014 04:48

Do you know what the J stands for? (names can be much more helpful than initials)

there is this death in Australia

http://ryersonindex.net/search.php

ROBERTS Leo John (Max) Funeral notice 29OCT2008 Death 82 Northern Territory News 01NOV2008

that is very close - a year older than your Leo would have been in Oct 2008

the question would be whether he was ever called 'Max' I guess :-)

The link is unrelated. My uncle has a recollection meeting him in the 1960's. His was draughtsman /architect by profession. I'ts possible he may have gone to Australia.

Probably unrelated, but for consideration:

When did anyone in your family have last contact with him?

Anyone have personal knowledge of any children?

I am looking to trace Leo J Roberts, my grand uncle. Born 1927 in London (?) Leo sometimes added an extra name Patrick to his name. Mothers maiden name was Annie Christina Timmons (born Ireland 1897, died 1958 in Middlesex). His father was Robert Roberts (died 1942). He was in the Royal Navy as a young man. He married Muriel Kate Taylor in 1947 and then Theresa Margaret Hatton Nicholls in 1955.
Does anyone know if he is still alive. Did he leave the UK ? Did he have any family.
Regards,
Kevin Timmons
