How old is he, ... guessing maybe born 1940s ? Would that be about right ?

Do you know anything about his family, - parents, brothers and sisters, home area etc.?

Look on Search.. TOP RIGHT of screen, then ....Search all members trees to see if anyone has listed them in their extended family.
If so, you can click on their names to make contact.

Welcome to the boards Paula.
Are you sure you have the date right? According to the records they married in 1966. Did they divorce the same year?

Hi Paula - According to the records on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl Kathleen is correct. Your parents married sometime between Jan 1 and Mar 31 1966. As the entry is listed on the above site, you can search for yourself for free.

Using the references found there, it might be worth purchasing the certificate to find out what his father's name was. With that, it might be possible to backtrack, find his parent's marriage and then any siblings.
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

Of course, your mother may have more information which could help in the search such as where & when he was born, the names of any relatives and where they lived.

If you haven't already done so, try posting on Forcesreunited, and look for any Naval 'association' sites linked to what you know about him.

There is a Welsh ER entry for a Donald S Anderson living in Newport. I'll send it to you by PM, BUT if you decide to write, be very very careful and tactful as it could be the wrong person! Assuming he paid your mum maintenance, any wife probably has knowledge of you, but all the same....
The other voter matches with a 1972 Wesh marriage. It might be best to check with your mum first to see if she thinks that is when he re-married.

Hi
Thankyou i will write a letter and give it a try and i will let you know when i hear a reply back
yes donald payed i think it was 2 pound a week she did not make him pay more.
my mum does not know when he got married the 2nd time
*************

So - have you already had a negative reply from the letter you wrote?
if so, the next step is to purchase your parents MC so that we can find your grandparents records and any siblings Donald may have

Paula, I think you need to talk to your mother before you go any further with this.

Divorce in 1966/67 was before the more recent laws (1969 some reforms then more re consensual divorce in the 1980s). You may find this paper interesting:

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/228779/0479.pdf

Go to page 3, Origin of Present Law and reads what it says about only being able to get a divorce within 3 years of marriage under special circumstances.

Was he married before? There is another marriage in Portsmouth in 1960 and there was a son born.

Rose

Edit: Forget this. This one was Donald Sinclair Anderson born 1929.
