Have you looked for a re-marriage? He might have taken a step-father's surname.

John William Clarke Mum had been in the wrens and his Father was in the navy and died at a very young age on ship (1960)

Unfortunately it is such a common name, and with no guarentee he or his family stayed in the same area.

Do you have additional information such as when you last had contact (if ever) or if he had siblings? To your knowledge, are his parents still living? One hopes they are, but they'd be getting to the age when a serious illness might develop. If not he might have been the informant on the DC for the last to die.

yes tried searching trees but nothing and I really aren't sure what I am doing.

For our ref, his birth was reg 1Q 1961 in the district of Salisbury.

Have you tried searching all members trees, top right under search? If he is listed, send the tree owner a message.

By the way - you've accidentally posted twice. Could you remove the duplicate please to avoid confusion?

Looking for John William Clarke. Mothers name Ann (maiden name Cooke) . Fathers name Ian. from the East Tytherley area or around the sailsbury area
