If he was in the RAF could be an overseas birth.

Aden didn't finish until 1967, it started 1963/64. The son could have been born in the 60s anywhere in the world. They didn't bring back many bodies in those days so could be buried in Aden.

Can't see Sam's death during the Aden years, either - presumably it would have been registered in UK.

Actually, they only married in 1959 - so any children would probably (though not necessarily) have been born after that.

Still don't see the birth of any son, though.

There's the birth of a McKinlay / Donald girl in Yorkshire in 1970 - but she can't be Sam's child, as the Aden conflict ended in 1967..

Have you tried "Search all members' trees"? (In drop-down menu when you hover over "Search" at the top right of this page.)

Enter his name and year of birth (or just his name), and click on "Search". Iif any of the results look like him, click on "Find out more" to contact the tree owners.
Don't ask to see their trees (yet) - just explain your interest and ask if they know of any descendants of Sam.

However, I don't see any McKinlay (or different spelling) / Donald births between 1932 and 1970 - in England/ Wales. (On FreeBMD)
Nor any other McKinlay / Donald births on Ancestry.

Are you sure Margaret's maiden name was Donald? Could she have had a previous marriage?
