Still not seeing a Frank or Francis though. There are other children born to Mary but they appear to have a different father.

Okay, someone used the wrong mother's maiden name when registering David:

No Danny's but there is a Daniel S Hopkinson born in Brighton and married in Rochdale.

Could they have had a different mother? Alternatively, if they shared the same mother, could they have taken their step-fathers name. Their surname at birth would have been registered with that of their biological father, if declared.

It might be worth buying the (your sons father's) birth certificate to see if he/his brothers mother had previously been known by a different surname.

If you know the names for your sons' grandparents we might be able to work out what's going on.

Going by this the mother's maiden name is Huckstep but not seeing any siblings:

i am trying to find my sons uncles, Danny Hopkinson from Rochdale, born but not sure, 1940 give or take a year are two, also Frank Hopkinson from Rochdale , lived in Salford , ,born 1940 give a year are two , thanks Pat
