Thank you for letting us know.

Its always a shame when its 'too late' but at least you have some form of closure now.

Just wanted to thank everyone who took an interest in my recent search for Rachel and Michael Rogers who were living in Berkhamsted until 2012.
One or two people asked me to post an update to the saga if I managed to get the information I was looking for.
Well sadly this couple have both passed away.
Michael did pass in 2013 and Rachel shortly after.
Thanks again.
Sue
Happy 2017 to you all :-)

If you apply for the marriage certificate of Rachel to Michael Rogers, then the information revealed may confirm the death in 2013 as being him.

From there you can apply for the will to find more information.

The registry for the will is Brighton, this is not the nearest one to Berkhampstead, but I do not know what criteria was used, so may still be the correct person.

Have you sent a message to Ann? If you haven't yet, click on her name.
On the ground knowledge can be better than anything we can find.

Thanks so much for your help and advice guys. Much appreciated.
With no details of a death for Rachel turning up I'm hoping there's a chance she is still alive.
My search will continue, but as a rookie at this kind of thing it's all a bit confusing. Hey ho !
Thanks again
Sue

My sister lives in Berkhampstead and is a cook in a home. I will ask if she knows of the lady in question. If you send me a pm of the address you had for her before it was sold, it might be near where she lives?

If they opted out of the ER version that's sold to commercial enterprises, then we'd check to see if the property had been since sold. You've already found that it has.

The next option, as they are in the 65+ age group, is to see if they had died & that their Estates had gone to Probate. Not all Estates do especially if they are relatively small or if it's left to the surviving spouse.

Patchem has had a look on the Probate Calendar & has made a suggestion. The only way to know for sure if it's the correct person is to purchase a copy of the Grant & Will for £10.
Alternatively you could order a copy of the DC from GRO using only the names & date of death as shown on the Calendar. You'd have to state that you don't know the district or reference numbers.

Info contained on either records might indicate what has happened to Rachel. She might have been the Executor/Informant or another relative could have been. The DC would say if he was a widower or spouse & name his wife even if she predeceased him. Remember that info on a DC is only as good as the informants knowledge.

If you know what his middle initials stand for, then see if the death in 2013 is for him:

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills

(Use advanced search including first name)

If correct, apply for the will.

Added:
There are possible births for the husband in 1926 in Islington and 1935 in Chepstow, and then 3 marriages for either man, 1950, 1959 and 1969 in Surrey, Staffordshire and Hertfordshire.

Thanks detective.
Sounds like the right couple.
Is there any way to get info post 2002 ?

Sue

The 2002 ER gives her age as 65+ as is Michael J Rogers.
Rachel isn't shown with a middle initial

Thanks Argyllgran I did have another thread but in her maiden name and that seemed to have run its course so I have closed it.
My new information did not come via genes reunited but by private means and seems to be leading me forward in a new direction.
Thank you

Still living there in 2002 with a Michael Rogers

patchem

patchem Report 25 Nov 2016 17:45

Could you give an approximate year of birth for her, please?
Also, does she have any middle names?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 25 Nov 2016 16:18

Do you mean you have a previous thread on GR about her, Susan? If so, better to add to the end of it, rather than start a new one, to avoid duplication of research.

However . . .
If you know which estate agent sold the house, they might be willing to forward a letter to the address they have for her. Make sure you put your own address on the back of the envelope so that it can be returned to you if she's not at that address now.

Hi there
I am continuing my search for a relative with new information which I have just received and wondered if anyone could help. I obviously don't want to give too much information to the public domain so would be pleased to receive private contact.
Apparently Rachel Rogers was living in Berkhampstead in 1997 and I have the address of the house which was sold in 2012.
I was hoping there was some way someone could tell me if she is still alive, contact info or maybe death details.
Thank you
