There doesn't seem to be a death for a 27 year old John Joseph Fitzgerald on the 1916-2007 GRO index. There's over 1,400 if his death was registered as John J Fitzgerald.

It would help if you entered what details that you do have for your father, on your tree. That's where most new researchers would start looking to find relatives.

Susan - despite your long membership, you may not have realised that its against the sites T&C to post your contact details on an open board. Could you please edit your opening post to remove your email address?

Anyone related to you can still contact you privately by clicking on your name & sending you a personal message using the GR system. Even if you allow your subs to lapse, GR will still notify you as long as your linked email address is up to date.
...

If you'd like the GR community to help you with your research and even to suggest contaxt details of living relatives, please post details of your father & his brother. The year and place of birth would be a good place to start.
