In spite of what the website says about "watched threads", GR does not notify you of replies .
You have to keep checking the thread.

If you register with this site:

https://www.navysite.de/crewlist/commandlist.php?&commandid=758&startyear=1961#

You can contact other crew members who were on Proteus at the same time, and ask if any of them know anything about Jim.

And another similar site for contacting crew members who have added their names to the site:

Try Googling uss proteus association, as I did and you come up with a Facebook group and a link to a group called vet friends - might be worth a look.

Can't find any information about Jim Larson (there are lots of deaths for people of that name but impossible to tell if any of them would be the right person) but this web page mentions the Proteus and also Holy Loch in Scotland:-

So not sure if this the Board - but my Mum who is 75 was talking recently. Groan - she met a sailor dental technician when she was 16 in Greenock 1963 (He was at Holy Loch) called Jim Larson. He was from Chicago. They called him Swede. He was on the Proteus and he was a dental technician. She thinks he may have passed. She was 16 and he was about 23 or so. And no - she had me when she was 19!!!!!

I do recall finding something about a Practice that may have been set up.

I hav tried googling but to no avail.

Apologies but when your Mum goes on at you you have to act.
