My mother was a nurse in RAF from 1950. How do I find out what she did and where she served?

These are not available on line - so don't be duped by websites that claim they have up to date service records.

Go to the official veterans site and send off The £30 fee and her service records will then by sent to you (may take several months).

Once you have these Google and the people on GR will be able to fill in the blanks and provide more information on your Mum's work and where she was based.
