William Lamb is my Great-Uncle,he may have been born in Lanchester,Co.Durham.
His younger brother Thomas Charles is my Grand-Father.
During the first World War,William was in the Durham Light Infantry,at his death in action on 23rd April 1917 he held the rank of Lance Sergeant.So far I have been unable to find out which Battalion of the Durhams he was serving in.His home residence is given as Shotton Colliery.
Can anyone help please.

The record on the Commonwealth Graves Site says 1st/5th Battalion:-

LAMB, WILLIAM

Date of Death: 23/04/1917
Regiment/Service: Durham Light Infantry

His medal card gives 2 Regimental numbers, 3811 and 200510. The CWGC record has 1st/5th Battalion.

You could try the National Archives site to see if either division's War Diary has been digitised.
