The Seale-Haynians Alumni Club Committee of the former Seale-Hayne Agricultural College would like to trace the descendants of some of the soldiers named in the Pathé Bros film made at Seale-Hayne on the treatment of shell shock victims /convalescent war neurosis patients. We want to focus on tracing the affect the war had on the lives of ordinary people locally.

We intend to have a commemoration later this year of Seale-Hayne's contribution to the war effort in WW1 as a military hospital for servicemen suffering from hysterical war neurasthenia.

Not seeing any Eaglefield/Jones births. If it was Lily's second marriage, Jones won't be her maiden name. It would be difficult to find births if that was the case.

Hi, no we have nothing, no first names or regiments that's why the research is proving difficult for us at the moment.

The film was possibly made in 1918 when it was as hospital. You can watch it on YouTube by typing in Seale Hayne Military Hospital.

If the film was made in 1918, then the details for the above Pte. Eaglefield might not be correct person. He was pensioned off from the Army on 26 Jun 1917. From your knowledge, would he have still been at the Military Hospital or not? :-S

Yes, but the military hospital started in the middle/summer of the previous year 1917 and continued through to the next in 1918. in all probability it is the correct person because if he was discharged due to shell shock then he probably ended up at the hospital.

If your budget runs to purchasing a DC, this appears to be the references for Eric's death. As Gladys died in 1966, the informant is likely to be a relative, hopefully one of his children.

You could also use the search all members tree facility on this site. Someone may have an interest solely in the Hansons or have included them as 'marry-ins'.

Either in 1917 or 1918 when the Pathe film was made. That's where we've got our information from to go on.
