Soldiers based at Kinmel Park Camp North Wales WW2

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm trying to find information on a Joseph Dougherty / Doherty who was based at Kinmel Park Militia Camp near Rhyl in North Wales around 1942-1944.

Where can I go to find more information about soldiers based here or more specifically about Joseph?

Many thanks,

Dan

Is he someone's presumed father, or a known relative? What other details do you have of him? Did he survive the war? You could check for his name on the CWGC site
http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead.aspx

If he is a named relative, you may be able to order his service records from the MOD at a cost of £30. Follow the link below and download the appropriate forms making sure that you have the correct degree of documented 'kinship'.

Have a look on Forcesreunited to see if his name has been entered.

To find out abour the Militia Camp in Rhyl, the best thing would be to make an internet search - which is what we would initially do.

Thank you for your advice. The problem is that nobody knows anything about this man except that he came from Kingston Upon Thames and was based at Kinmel Camp in North Wales in the early 1940's. His names was Joseph Doherty / Dougherty.

He fathered a child and then left and nothing was ever heard from him again. He left before the child was born. The child is now in her late 60's and would like to know more about her biological father. Unfortunately all those with the information about him have passed away now.

Tricky situation especially as he may not have told his current family that he has another child. There is always the possibility that he has since died or is mentally incapacitated.

You could search all members trees with both spellings to see if anyone has a Joseph born in Surrey. A year of birth is likely to have been c1922 +/-. Mind you, 'came from' Kingston-upon-Thames doesn't necessarily mean that he was born there.!

Search for his name on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ and you'll appreciate the problem.
