The National Archive searching for merchant seaman has a link to FindMyPast
http://goo.gl/As0Jg5

Findmypast has the entry (free result)
Results for Merchant Navy Seamen
LEO Tobin 1905 Lancashire LIVERPOOL R 13916 BT349
http://goo.gl/l2msVL

Someone with a sub will have to access the results, or you could purchase credits yourself.

Read the info on the NA page to see what type of information is likely to be on the record.

Actually, the FMP record is also on GR - if you don't have a full sub, pay to view. Make sure you copy/download to your computer otherwise you'll have to re-purchase at a later date.

Added - As a standard member I can access it without charge!

Sorry
FMP is Find My Past and is a sister site to GenesReunited.

GR also hold the same records for Leo....which are free to access.

I've sent images of 3 cards by pm, all have the same discharge number so are the same man.

One of the cards lists several discharges? but only the ship's official number, rather than name is recorded in the list, so you might need to google to find out how to ascertain a ship's identity from it's number etc.

EDIT: sorry , had pmed images before reading about the free access on the thread.
