I managed to get my father's records from the following address:

Historical Disclosures
Mailpoint 555
APC Glasgow
Kentigern House
65 Brown Street
GLASGOW
G2 8EX.

I believe they can only search for the records if you have the name, rank and service number. It generally costs something like £30 and takes several months, so be prepared for that!

I was lucky that when I received the Home Guard service records it included all the records from August 1914 when my father signed up for WW1 service.
