Wonky Woman Report 14 Mar 2015 13:04

Hello everyone,

I am trying to find anything to do with my husband's grandfather Sidney Henry Vest who was in the Monmouthshire Regiment ( 82535 ). Sidney was killed on 1st November 1918, I just think it is so sad that he got through the war to be killed so near the end. A family story is that Sidney died as the result of a motorbike accident but I'm not sure if this is true. Any help would be much appreciated.

Wonky Woman.

According to Soldier's Effects he died of injuries. Others died of wounds, killed in action or died of illness.

You could be right about an accident. The death cert will confirm it.

Welcome to the Boards, John.

As a couple of years have passed since 'wonky woman' started this thread, she may not be looking for more replies.

Send her a message by clicking on her name. If she still has the same registered email address - and can access it - she'll be notified that you have sent her a message.
As a point of note - by sending her a message, you'll also be able to see what her 'real' name is. Worth mentioning it to Rob in case he already knows her?

Added - If Rob wanted to write to her, she is on the 2017 (compiled in 2016) Electoral Roll in Mid Glamorgan

You are a star for replying.
Rob's mum is now 86 and I have compiled a pretty comprehensive folder for her except of course of how he actually died. I put Sydney into Genes Reunited with zero results, however, I have found him on several trees on Ancestry.com.
I shall inform Rob of your reply. I think he knows her address.
Many thanks for your help.
