What on earth is wrong with this quizzes board?

Practically every time I post to these games or request quizzes and games I get the dreaded Genes Reunited ERROR
strange thing is........the post goes through and is registered


Is it only me?
I have access to four computers and they ALL time out!

I think it is old and rusty and needs attention.

Not just you - happens to all of us - double and treble posting as well.

Sometimes I just can't be bothered and go elsewhere.

What I suspect happens is that the process to actually send the message finishes quickly and then some housekeeping is necessary. It is the housekeeping that takes too long and therefore rather than hold up your PC the systems reports an error.

The housekeeping still gets done but independantly of what is happening on your PC.

Before the error message is displayed it is possible to click on Send again and get additional messages posted. I am not certain that that accounts for all of them though.

The time taken by the housekeeping process is probably proportional to some function of your number of posts & threads and the number of posts in the thread you are adding to. Which is why the Quiz board is affected more than other boards as are those posters who have thousands of posts.

Another factor which may affect the quiz threads is that they are often very long running This means that there is a lot more work to do when sorting from date of creation order to date of last post order.
